Rheinmetall signed a joint venture to produce military trucks in Brasov-Romania

MHS Truck & Bus, the sole importer of Rheinmetall MAN military vehicles in Romania, signed a joint venture partnership with the Romanian truck factory to produce multifunctional car platforms in Braşov, depending on the equipment needs of The Romanian Army, shows a company press release. Rheinmetall already has a joint venture with the Moreni Automechanical Plant for the realization of the Romanian Agilis 8x8 conveyor. The Romanian army wants to buy about 3,300 trucks in different configurations and estimates a framework contract of about 750 million euros for the next seven years. MHS Truck & Bus will submit a bid for this competition.
In order to integrate the Romanian industry into the Romanian Army's equipment program with militarized vehicles, MHS Truck & Bus will collaborate with several local suppliers in addition to Roman Braşov, the company says.
"We want to produce, in Brasov, a Romanian truck at German standards. Moreover, our strategy is that, as the program will reach maturity, more and more components of automotive platforms will be produced in Romania. The objective of the last year of the program is to produce 100% of the need for militarized vehicles, exclusively in our country, "said Claudia Iordache, Managing Director of MHS Truck & Bus.
The joint venture will create more than 1000 jobs in Romanian companies, say MHS Truck & Bus,
MHS Truck & Bus and Roman SA intend to submit a tender within the tender announced by the Romanian Ministry of National Defense for the acquisition of approximately 3,300 trucks and trailers, the HX range of military trucks and the TG militarized commercial trucks.
