Over 272 million euro from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) are being invested in the construction of a motorway between Sebes and Turda towns, near Cluj, Romania, within the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T), reads a press release published on Tuesday by the European Commission.
'The Romanians who live in this region will enjoy safer, more comfortable traveling conditions. This motorway will also support the development of the regional economy, with positive consequences on trade and tourism,' European Commissioner for Regional Policy Corina Cretu stated.
The EU-funded project will connect two existing motorways, A1 Orastie - Sibiu and A3 Gilau - Campia Turzii, it will increase the speed and the road safety.
The Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) is a project of the European Union which aims to create a full network of auto, railway and naval transport.
