Major acquisition on the wine market: Alexandrion Group buys the Romanian business of the British at Halewood

The Alexandrion Group, Romania's largest producer of spirits, will take over the Halewood Group's Romanian wine portfolio, with the transaction being completed in the next three months, according to a company press release.
The Halewood Group has been present in Romania since 1987 and has developed a portfolio of premium wines. Regarding the registered volume, the company is among the top ten producers on the local market, the second on the level of wine exports.
"Alexandrion Group will become one of the most powerful and competitive players on the Romanian market. We are a traditional company, investing in Romania and paying utmost attention to the needs and demands of its consumers. We are very selective with the business we incorporate into our portfolio and we trust that this decision will please our consumers, "said Nawaf Salameh, CEO of Alexandrion Group.
The Alexandrion Group has an important portfolio of brands covering all segments of the market. The acquisition of the Halewood wine range brings value to the company and represents a new stage in the local and international development and expansion strategy. The Group has embarked on a policy of investing and diversifying markets.
Halewood International PLC will continue to develop the existing portfolio of international brands of spirits.
The Alexandrion Distilleries and Saber Distilleries 1789 have products that include all the categories of spirit drinks required on the market, including traditional Romanian beverages
Alexander Alexander (Alexander Vodka, Alexander Lemon and Alexander Gin) entered the company's portfolio by acquisition in the early 2000s.
The international group Halewood Wines & Spirits is the largest independent producer and distributor of alcoholic beverages in the UK, having been active on the market for more than 35 years. In Romania, Halewood Wines & Spirits owns over 350 hectares of vineyards planted in 2002-2009, in some of the country's most representative vineyards, including Dealu Mare and Murfatlar. The wine portfolio is complemented by spirits, ginger, beer and water (Willow Water).
