>>>The Ministry of Economy has convinced that the Algerian government and Algerian companies are very interested in the offers of Romanian companies
By Constantin Radut
Algeria, one of the North African countries with the extraordinary potential for development and cooperation, has been forgotten in recent years by the authorities in Bucharest as well as by the institutions responsible for bilateral cooperation.
We say so because in 1980-1990, Algeria was one of the most frequented markets by Romanian companies. Between Romania and Algeria there have been not only strong friendships and respect, but also a close cooperation in various economic sectors. Romania was among the states that supported Algeria's oil and gas industry. Romanian companies have worked in Algeria to build hydro-technical dams and homes for the local population. The U 650 tractors are now also found in the Algerian agricultural farms. Romania has exported over 5000 agricultural tractors to Algeria.
That is why we greeting the economic mission organized by the Romanian Ministry of Economy in Algiers.
Algeria is interested in the products and services offered by companies in the portfolio of the Ministry of Economy involved in the defense industry. This is the main conclusion of the mixed economic mission, recently carried out in Algeria, under the coordination of the state secretary for defense industry of the Ministry of Economy, Ion Radu, at the invitation of the Algerian National Defense Ministry.
According to a communiqué, the Romanian delegation was a public-private type and promoted the offers of Romarm (Cugir Mechanical Plant and Moreni Automecanica), Aerostar Bacau, Interactive Systems & Business Consulting, as well as PATROMIL (defense industry) OPIAR (aeronautical industry).
Ion Radu also met with senior heads of headquarters (logistics, procurement, IT) from the Algerian Ministry of National Defense, the Air Force Command, as well as the Minister of Industry and Mines and the Minister of Commerce respectively. The Government and Algerian companies were very interested in the offers of IOR, Avioane Craiova and Romaero, which are in the portfolio of the Ministry of Economy.
"There is a potential for cooperation between the two countries that can be exploited at a higher level by business contracts in areas such as: production and maintenance of military equipment, in particular wheeled vehicles and military and civilian craft and trains, weapons production and ammunition infantry, integration of communications systems, "Economy Minister Gheorghe Şimon said.
It is expected that, in the near future, delegates from the two countries will work in all economic sectors, not just in the military industry .
We urge the Ministry for Business Environment, Commerce and Entrepreneurship to be the first to organize a major economic mission to Alger, but also to Oran or Constantine.
The Romanian Business Journal pages will be open for any collaboration proposal between companies in the two countries. Algeria is the most powerful country in North Africa and should be treated with the utmost attention by the Romanian business community.
