The London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) announced today that it will open a new business services center in Bucharest. The new center will hire staff in the Business Services company, which is part of the group. The decision comes amid Britain's out of the European Union.
The Business Services is currently providing technology, data services, and corporate support to LSEG group entities. The new London Stock Exchange Group's headquarters will be in the central-western area of Bucharest, near Politehnica University, according to the company's announcement.
Initially, LSEG will hire 200 people to complement Business Services in Colombo, Sri Lanka, where 480 people are hired.
"Romania offers LSEG a highly skilled workforce, a strong education system and good infrastructure. We were delighted with the warm welcome of the Romanian Government, the Invest Romania agency and the local business community. We are looking to become an employer in Romania and to contribute to the future development of capital market capabilities in the country, "said Murli Subrahmanyam, Head of Business Services Division of LSEG.
In turn, Stefano-Radu Oprea, Minister for Business, Trade and Entrepreneurship, said he was delighted that the London Stock Exchange Group chose Romania for one of its strategic locations, creating over 200 jobs in Bucharest. "The long-term commitment to our country strengthens the development of the capacities of the Romanian capital markets," concluded Stefan Oprea.
