Deposits of non-governmental clients rise by 1.7% in October 2017

The deposits of non-governmental clients rose by 1.7% in October 2017 compared to September 2017, up to the level of 291.158 billion lei, according to the data made public on Friday by the National Bank of Romania (BNR).
Retail deposits in lei increased by 0.6%, to 108.181 billion lei. On October 31, 2017, the retail deposits in lei saw a rise of 10.8% (7.9% in real terms) from October 31, 2016.
The BNR's statistics show that the lei-denominated deposits of legal entities (non-financial companies and non-monetary financial institutions) increased by 2.2% to 88.448 billion lei. On October 31, 2017, the lei-denominated deposits of legal entities increased by 15.6% (12.7% in real terms) from October 31, 2016.
According to the BNR, foreign currency deposits of population and legal entities (non-financial companies and non-monetary financial institutions), expressed in lei, increased by 2.4% to 94.529 billion lei (expressed in euros, foreign currency deposits rose by 2.4% to 20.556 billion euros).
Compared to the same month of the previous year, foreign currency deposits of residents denominated in lei increased by 11.6% (expressed in euros, foreign currency deposits of residents went up by 9.3%). The foreign currency deposits of households denominated in lei increased by 10.7% (expressed in euros, these deposits advanced by 8.4%) and the foreign currency deposits of legal entities (non-financial companies and non-monetary financial institutions), expressed in lei, increased by 13.6% (expressed in euros, these rose by 11.3%).
