'CelebRo' - application for mobile phones developed by Romanian IT workers for the Great Union Centenary

By Andra Beltz
Romanian IT workers, on the occasion of the Great Union Centenary, are developing a free application for the mobile phones called 'CelebRo,' by which they want to locate the addresses in Paris where famous Romanians used to live, the project following to be launched this May.
'Romanian IT - the global community of Romanian techs - celebrates the Great Union Centenary in a special way. (...) We will launch CelebRo, a free application presenting 'the Romanian map of Paris,' by locating the addresses where famous Romanians used to live or those who remained unknown until now,' reads a release of Romanian IT on Monday.
According to the abovementioned source, by reminding about the Romanian personalities who lived in the City of Lights, the Romanian IT workers want to celebrate our country, to increase the visibility of its cultural patrimony, and at the same time to improve the image of Romanians who live in France right now.
'The direct beneficiaries of the mobile application will be the Romanians who visit Paris, those who live here, and also the French or the other nationalities, since France's capital hosts more than 30 million tourists annually,' reads a release.
Romanian IT brings to mind that the great sculptor Constantin Brancusi studied and lived in Paris, while bringing much honor to Romania everywhere he went in the world.
The project enjoys the support of the Romanian Embassy in Paris, through the involvement of Ambassador Luca Niculescu, and it is also meant, for further development, to benefit from the support of the Romanian Cultural Institute in the capital of France.
'You know where the Cafe Riche was, where the impressionists financed by their supporter, Georges de Bellio or Gheorghe Bellu, used to have dinner? When you pass by Odeon, you will learn about Jean Yonnel, who was a professor of pronunciation for General de Gaulle himself. Not far away, Monica Lovinescu used to speak from the headquarters of Free Europe Radio Station in Paris, a symbol of the anti-communist resistance in exile. During the walks through the French capital, we will have all these information and many others, in our phone in the pocket. With CelebRo one can explore the points of interests around us, choose for a walk already designed or imagine our own itinerary. We want to launch the application around May 9, 2018, which is a day with a triple signification: The Independence Day for Romania, the Europe Day and the day when the Second World War ended. In time, we will be able to also extend this application to other cities: Vienna, Brussels, Berlin, Rome or New York,' the initiator of the project, Raluca Maria Smaranda, who has lived in Paris for the past three years, explained.
